The Farmers’ Micro Fund is designed to create meaningful social and economic impact by transforming the way smallholder farmers access finance and participate in commercial agriculture. The initiative seeks to break traditional lending barriers that have long excluded rural farmers due to the absence of conventional collateral, limited banking history, and restricted access to formal financial systems. Instead, the Fund recognizes productive land, labor capacity, and coordinated market arrangements as significant collateral assets upon which financing support is based.
Through this approach, farmers are empowered to increase production with confidence, knowing there is a structured and reliable market for their produce. A key strength of the Farmers’ Micro Fund is its integration with downstream processing capacity, where all produce is absorbed through organized value-adding systems. This creates sustainable market demand, reduces post-harvest losses, improves income security, and strengthens long-term agricultural participation among rural communities.
The Fund currently places strong emphasis on sweet potato, piggery, and coffee production due to their high economic potential, existing market opportunities and downstream capacity. Farmers are supported with essential production inputs, technical guidance, and coordinated market access to help scale operations and improve productivity. By linking financing directly to production and processing, the initiative creates a practical and self-sustaining agricultural financing model.
Over time, the Farmers’ Micro Fund aims to expand and scale into additional crops, livestock, and agricultural value chains across wider regions. The broader vision is to stimulate inclusive rural economic growth, empower farming communities, strengthen food and export supply chains, and contribute meaningfully to long-term national development.
